C+B Architects were appointed to develop a series of interior retail concepts for Airtel in Nairobi, exploring how the telecommunications brand could be translated into a contemporary and engaging customer experience. Although the project was not ultimately realised, the design process focused on creating a retail environment that embodied Airtel's dynamic identity while enhancing customer interaction and brand visibility.
The concept drew heavily from Airtel's established brand language, incorporating the company's distinctive red and white colour palette throughout the spatial experience. Bold graphic elements, illuminated branding features, and clean contemporary detailing were carefully integrated to create a highly recognisable and consistent customer environment.
The retail layouts were designed to simplify the customer journey, with clear circulation paths, intuitive product displays, and dedicated consultation zones that supported both transactional and service-based interactions. Flexible merchandising systems were developed to accommodate evolving product offerings and promotional campaigns, ensuring adaptability within a fast-moving telecommunications market.
A contemporary material palette combined durable finishes with sleek retail fixtures, digital display integration, and strategically positioned lighting to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. The design sought to balance brand prominence with customer comfort, creating spaces that were both functional and visually impactful.
The concept explored how Airtel's corporate identity could extend beyond traditional signage and graphics, becoming an integral part of the architectural experience through colour, form, materiality, and spatial organisation. The result was a modern retail environment designed to strengthen customer engagement while reinforcing Airtel's position as one of Africa's leading telecommunications brands.
